Faces... Pt 2

29 faces challenge - February 2014

Happy Wednesday!!

Here are entries 7-10 for the 29 faces challenge (For entries 1-5 click here).  Yes, only 7-10... I will NOT be sharing #6 is was an epic fail!! I tried drawing a face from a photo (which wasn't too bad, been years since I attempted), then added color with pastel chalks.  It was not good at all... no not sharing (I don't even want to look at it!)

Enough of my rant... I did want to try adding color to the faces and because it has been forever since I worked with pastels (my first love...*sigh*) I wanted to give it another go.

So I grabbed some pastel chalks, charcoal pencils (B&W), and color pencil on toned charcoal paper and went at it... see my results:

I know I'm a little behind, but I will catch up! I will have my 29 faces by the end of the month!

Thank you for stopping by!

Many Blessings!

Your Love makes me feel...

Well Friday was the day of LOVE!!! Unfortunately, no babysitter equals no date night!  But that is ok, because we celebrate our love everyday!! (sap sap... yes I'm corny but I love my Bubba!!!)
Anywho... I did get a very touching valentine card, some yummy chocolates and a melt in  your mouth strawberry shortcake on Thursday evening.  It was very sweet, and I think he thinks he got some brownie points for giving it to me early...ok he did!

My lovely gift from my love:

My hubby doesn't really care for receiving gifts on V-day, but I wanted to make him something special and something he will actually use.   Since he, like most people,  reads the card once, then I get an "awe thanks bub" and that's it, the moments is over and the card enters stationary limbo.  So I decided to make him bookmarks because he is always reading, especially for school, usually about three or four books at a time.

I made him three bookmarks, inspired by designs I saw on Pinterest.  He really liked them and actually showed them off to his co-workers!  He's too cute!

(Acrylics, B&W sharpie paint pens, charcoal pencil, washi tape, text on printer paper, TCW219 mini punchinella, and 7gypsies Clear STAMP Set Numbers)

Btw, we did get to go out on Monday night (dinner and a movie), thanks to my sister Melinda for staying with the boys.

Many blessings!

Happy Birthday Tio Joey!

For my Big Little Bro!!

Hello everyone and Happy Thursday!  This past Monday (Feb 10) was my younger brother's big 3-5.  He is an awesome brother and a super uncle, so the boys wanted to give their Tio Joey something special.  So what is more special than something made from the heart!

This was a perfect time to bring out the gelli plate, because gelli prints are unique and special, just like Joey!
Each of the boys chose several color for their prints and used a paint brush to make their design.

Here are some pics of the process.. Brian and Ethan are now gelli plate pros!

I made the cover just by brayering some colors on poster board, I decoupaged the words that I wrote on plain printer paper and added some washi tape for a little extra umph.
The boys made two prints each, the first page was wishing their Tio a Happy birthday and the second page they wrote why they love their Tio Joey!  (well, I wrote Ethan's but the words are his)

~Brian (7yrs): I love Tio Joey because he takes care of me and lets me play Mario Bros Party 8
~Ethan (4yrs): I love Tio Joey because I love him!

Happy Birthday Tio Joey, We love you!

Blessings and thank you for stopping by!

29 faces challenge - February 2014

Hello people!  As I mentioned in my previous blog post, I have set many goals for myself and one of them is completing  ALL the challenges I enter.   So I will be posting my entries in groups depending on whether they are daily, weekly, monthly or one-off challenges.

Today I am sharing my entries for 29 faces challenge, entries 1-5.  29 faces is a challenge held twice a year for a month to encourage daily creative time.  You can use any medium, but the focal point is the face (animal faces are welcomed).

I love this challenge!! One, because it makes me stop everyday and create, and two, because I love drawing faces especially eyes (forgot how relaxed it makes me feel)!

Below are my first 5 faces. I decided to keep it simple and just draw with pencil on paper.  I use text pages (1 & 4), regular printer pages (2&3, those I completed at work during mtgs...figured if I'm going to doodle anyway let it be a face!) and the last one was in my sketch book.

Thank you for stopping by!

2014 - My Word is Trust

TRUST ~ Firm reliance on the integrity, ability, or character of a person or thing
~ To have or place reliance... to be confident

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Yes, it is still the new year, even though we are already in February!
I know I haven't blogged  in over a month, but I'm happy to say that I have been able to take time to create regularly.  I set many goals for myself this year and on the top of the list is creative me time!

As I meditated on my goals and what I wanted to achieve this year, especially regarding my art, I started to feel a little overwhelmed.  My inner critic trying to add doubt on my ability to take out the time to create, or whether or not what I produce will even be as good as I envision it.
Of course, I had to shake that off and not let that doubt fester but what it did do is lead me to my word.  So my word for 2014 is Trust!

Trust, Trust in me, in my talent, Trust in my Family, Trust in the Lord (especially the Lord), believing that the gift He has placed in my hands is for a purpose, which means I have a purpose and that keeps me encouraged!
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding;
